Communication and Teamwork
This section describes a series of presentations I have done throughout the MMB Masters Program at NCSU.
Individual Presentation
Coffea arabica: the Path to Genetic Engineering
This was a 20 minute presentation given on the topic of coffee genetic engineering, specifically the bottleneck of this industry; somatic embryogenesis. In this presentation I describe the background of the C. arabica species, the economic value of coffee, why genetic transformation is needed, and background research associated with somatic embryogenesis. Then I present my proposal for the next experiment that needs to be done to advance the field. My proposal involved the molecular characterization of highly competent callus cell lines of C. arabica.
Group Presentation
This presentation was given to our clients at BASF. Here we present our theoretical framework to support the potential for seed treatment technology to increase carbon sequestration in agricultural soils. Also included is a competitor/customer analysis of the sustainability space, as well as a market analysis highlighting the value of carbon draw-down in crop production.
Teamwork
This presentation was focused on our consulting project with Dr. Brudno working out of the Camparative Medicine Institute at NCSU. Here we described our deliverable and outlined the series of regulatory steps associated with establishing clinical trials using pet canines. Dr. Brudno's team wanted to investigate a novel technology to deliver T-cell therapy to cancer patients. This presentation outlined my teamwork capabilities because I contributed to organizing and gathering the research, and presented our findings.
